California Dreaming
Think a stylish and laid back hotel which is inspired by warm breezes and beach days.
Think vintage bar truck serving delicious fruity cocktails with little paper umbrellas.
Think pastel pink retro 1964 Flacon Delux with white leather interiors and shiny chrome hubcaps with the name of Veronica.
Think fuchsia pinks, pastel pinks, dusty pinks, metallic pinks and hot pinks mixed with soft oranges, bold purples and pastel yellows.
VOILA...you have California Dreaming.
When I found this little hidden gem of a boutique hotel, Loea, I instantly knew I had to shoot in this space!
I loved everything about it.
It was elegant, stylish, had beautiful tropical simple gardens and a laid back feel about it. I felt like I had been 'whisked' away to a little bubble of tranquil calmness against a mix of super cool palm-treed beaches and sunbaked California vibes!
With all this in mind, I had the perfect mix of creatives to compliment everything about LOEA and for those who don't know how to pronounce it...Low-Air!
So starting with Kerri from Bloom and Bush who was the incredible florist that created the most amazing floral statement pieces' of colour spilling out of 'Veronica', intimate corners of the hotel and floral combinations at the vintage bar. This lady is not just so lovely, but has the most amazing energy and enthusiasm for all things creative. It was wonderful working with her.
Lisa from Glamacamp Weddings an Events joined us onboard to style the shoot and added the most amazing finishing touches that just pulled everything together in each location setup. Not only does she do amazing styling she also hires out the most beautiful tents. They are truly unique and stunning.
I love how collaborations with the right team, with the same visions allows incredible results to be created.
The timing was perfect for Clara White Bridal. Their new range for 2022 was being launched the same day. The bridal outfits were all part of the 2022 collection and both Lucy and Tynielle's outfits were specifically chosen to suit their body types and suit their personalities.
Hair and Makeup was done by the talented Mellisa Johnstone Makeup. Not only does this wonderful lady do beautiful bridal makeup but she really pushes boundaries using her skills which I absolutely love. She has a wide experience of makeup genres which is incredible.
The wonderful and ever-so suave Michael owns Veronica Sixty Four. She is his baby! He speaks tenderly about her as if she is a person whom he loves and adores. It was an honour to use her for this photoshoot and show her off in all her glory.
The wonderful Laura from Laura Roselie Photography created the awesome video of this incredible day which she did so beautifully. It was fantastic to work with her.
Thank you to my wonderful assistant Stacey for holding lights and diffusers on probably the hottest day of summer. We all had the tan lines to show off for the day!
When looking at the meaning behind the song 'California Dreaming' by The Mamas and the Papas it speaks about longing to be in another place and I love how this little world we created felt just like that. I would highly recommend to stay at Loea. You won't be disappointed!
